We are truly astounded at the amount of outreach for our Operaton: Feed the People initiative.

To keep our promise to provide accessible care to our community, we are temporarily closing applications to focus on and review our first round of applicants.

We look forward to announcing and opening our next application window in the coming weeks, and we will keep our form on our site for anyone in need.

Food, Love, & Community

Since 2025, Meals on Heels’ mission has been to strengthen and support the LGBTQIA+ community through accessible mutual aid focused on food insecurity.

We work to ensure that individuals and families in need have access to food, compassionate support, and resources they need.

  • Operation: Feed the People is made possible through the generosity of the Houston Queer community.

    As resources become available, we work to provide grocery gift cards directly to community members who need support.

    This is mutual aid with no strings attached; there is no requirement to volunteer, donate, or give anything in return for receiving assistance. Together, we turn community generosity into direct care.

  • Operation: Feed the People is for members of the Houston LGBTQIA+ community and allies who are experiencing food insecurity or could use additional support with groceries.

    We welcome individuals, couples, families, and households. Assistance is provided based on demonstrated need and available resources.

  • Applying for Operation: Feed the People is simple. Complete our online assistance form and tell us a little about your current needs, including how many people you are requesting support for and how soon you need assistance.

    Once your application is submitted, our team will review your request based on the resources currently available. If grocery gift cards are available and if you qualify, we will contact you using the information you provided, and we will provide updates about your assistance as soon as we can.

    We expect to receive an influx of applications, so please be patient with our team as we work to respond to everyone as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding as we work through applications.

  • Food is a basic necessity, and everyone deserves access to it with dignity.

    We believe access to food and community support should not depend on how someone expresses their identity or sexuality.
